One of the recommendations by the Treasurer at State this year will be that if we continue to keep the six division format we increase the registration cost from the current $7 to $10 or $13.
This is because of the increasing costs of trophies, medals, and site use fees.
The question is should we increase our registration fees for State? If so to what amount?

This seems like a fairly simple topic to me. If the tournament expenses are more than the tournament revenue, then we either need to spend less on trophies and medals (which of course means giving out fewer trophies and medals) or raise the entry fee enough to cover the costs.
ReplyDeleteThe short-term problem is not being able to predict the numbers in the newly formed (K-6, K-9) sections. If the trend towards using non-high school facilities for State (WSU, this year; the Kansas Union at KU, 3 years ago) continues, we will undoutedly need to raise the entry fee to balance the books.

Last year at State one of the Treasurer's Recommendations was to increase the registration cost for the Grade Championships and State to $10. The motion was passed.
